Master of Arts in Education Major in Child Development and Education –for Practitioners

MAE-CDE for Practitioners
Objectives
The Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Child Development and Education (MAE-CDE) seeks to form early childhood educators and specialists who can effectively blend theory and practice in creating positive learning opportunities and experiences for young children to promote their development.  The MAE-CDE curriculum intertwines four areas of learning: foundational subjects, psychology and counseling, specialization subjects, and research.  These four areas of learning are studied from and integrated by a perspective that views the family as the first school and parents as the primary educators of their children.

Duration

This masters program has 42 units (36 units of coursework and 6 units of thesis writing) which can be completed by full time students in two academic years including summer sessions.  The schedule of the different course offerings (see second page) is designed for practitioners to complete the degree on time without having to give up or be released from their jobs.
