Master of Arts in Political Economy

Overview

Today’s increasingly complex national and global environment calls for a more eclectic mindset. Contemporary problems can rarely be approached from a single perspective. The UA&P Master of Arts in Political Economy (MAPE) program aims to equip students with the knowledge and analytical skills necessary to understand and have a holistic view of contemporary realities. It offers a specialization in International Relations and Development (IRD) in order to prepare students in an increasingly interdependent world and to help them appreciate how this condition shapes human and social development.

The MAPE-IRD program provides the students with the necessary tools, concepts, and theories for examining change and development brought about by globalization. Special focus is given to the relevance and impact of these issues on developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In line with this, the program adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the study of social problems and issues, using analytical tools and methods from Political Science, Economics, History, Sociology, Public Administration, and Philosophy.
