About SMN
The School of Management (SMN), formerly Center for Management, was officially launched on December 1996. The school traces its roots to 1973 when the Strategic Business Economics Program (SBEP), one of the School's core programs, was established.
The Center of Management was then composed of SBEP, Cooperatives Development Unit, and the Institutes of Management; Agribusiness Development; and Policy, Ethics, and Excellence in Enterprise. In May 1996, the Board of Trustees established the School of Management and appointed Dr. Jose Rene Gayo as the first Dean. The School was formally launched on December 13, 1996.
Vision The School of Management is envisioned to be an innovative molder of business leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific region. It will be known for management education programs that foster competent, dynamic, ethical, and socially responsible enterprises.
Mission To offer degree programs and management development courses that will be distinguished by their emphasis on economics, a global view of business, social philosophy and ethics, and effective leadership.
To carry out, solely or in cooperation with other Schools and units in the University, extension services for development cooperatives, small- and medium-scale enterprises, non-government organizations, national and local government units, and other social enterprises.
To undertake research that promotes strategic management, trade and investment, and entrepreneurship in the Asia-Pacific region.
Degree Programs Master of Science in Management With emphasis on economics, a global view of business, social philosophy and ethics, and effective leadership, the Management Program has a strong business-academe partnership that equips students with the knowledge, skills and attitude needed to transform modern challenges into business opportunities and socially responsible enterprises.
Bachelor/Master of Science in Entrepreneurial Management The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Management Program is the only program in the country that nurtures entrepreneurial talent as early as the adolescent years. It aims to enhance the students' ability for, among others, strategic planning, resource management, response to opportunities, and equitable compensation. Students under the program are expected to establish a viable business venture before graduation.
